Field Notes - Economic Survival Fair.

6/19/2009 - Economic Survival Fair.

Klamath Falls Economic Survival Fair.

This job can be really amazing – I can go from performing file reviews, writing grants and attending long meetings to participating in a ribbon cutting! Here’s a link to a short video about the Economic Survival Fair – it starts with a commercial, and the ribbon cutting doesn’t show up until 39 seconds into the clip. Anyway, this fair was designed to help families and businesses in the Klamath Falls area cope with tough times. There were booths with resource providers available, as well as workshops on how to cope. I went to an interesting discussion on the Great Depression. The keynote speaker, Willamette University football coach Mark Speckman (he was born without hands, so has some insight into adversity), was quite good. Unfortunately, overall turn-out was low.
