Workforce Investment Act & Community College Partners Collaboration Meeting.
My second day of work. I am in Sunriver, in central Oregon, at a meeting to discuss how the WIA service providers and the rural community colleges in Oregon can collaborate more closely. Since community colleges and WIA both get funding from the same state department, Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development, they feel they are competing for the same funds – which can create tension, for obvious reasons. This meeting is an opportunity for each group to discover the others’ strengths and where collaboration would be most beneficial.
